I grew up with the Stones. After them, I've actually never have had a band that I really follow. I wonder if I will ever experience a new and great music genre ever again. At least in this life...

The Stones were just slightly before my time but I have a guitar player session guy who works for me who loves the Stones and formed a tribute band. Now I'm an avid fan of Mick & Co!

[...] A friend and I were driving back from seeing the Rolling Stones in Jersey, and he put on “Spirit in the Night.” When it got to the last verse, he quieted down and said, “I love this part.” [...]

That'll learn me! I hit "Say It!" when my boss walked in and started talking to me about work. No time to spell check or finish my thought. I meant to say "Discovering the brilliance of a band that's already a legend is something that fascinating to read."

Great review!

What's fascinating to me is that I think there are plenty of people my age in the same boat. And it's a shame, because bands like the Rolling Stones are legendary for a reason -- a good one, at that -- and that people in my generation only know a handful of their work is kind of sad.

Discoving the brilliance of a band that's already a legend is something that's facinating to read.

Taylor, the Stones have enough songs to fill 50 shows with. And that's not counting if they devote some of each show to their own solo careers (Keith Richards "Take It So Hard" is a great song, but most of Mick Jaggers solo work comes off more like the post-modern classic rock of Lenny Kravitz rather than the pure rock n roll of the Stones). Still, I'd think that "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" would be on the set list long before their inferior cover of "(Just my) Imagination" would even be considered.

I think it was "Rough Justice"...the first single off of A Bigger Bang...it sounds like one of the lesser-songs off of Beggars Banquet...which still means it was better than most of their career post 1975 ("Memory Motel", "Beast of Burden" and most of Tattoo You are exceptions).
